Sammy Log #4 - Feeling Good Enough To Do The Bills!

Sammy, playing with envelopes

If only my husband and I could depend on Samuel to do the bills!

After my initial anger towards Samuel’s vet for not giving him enough Panacur the first time to fully dose him for this worm infestation, I took him to the vet to get more. Turns out Samuel had not only round and hook worms, but also tape worm and protozoa! If it’s not one thing, it’s another with this kid.

He finished up his pencillin last week, and was put on Panacur again. Not only that, but a new medicine called Abond, to get rid of the protozoa. He seems like he’s feeling better— bouncing off the walls and getting himself into trouble like normal. He is still taking his Cranberry and Ammonium Chloride in the morning after breakfast, but his UTI has seemed to clear up quite nicely, also. No more peeing every 5 minutes, so that must be a good sign!

Sammy Log #3 - Deworming… again.

Samuel at VetThis little mans UTI has gotten better! No more bloody urine! So, I’m thrilled about that, and I’m sure he is too. But, if it’s not one thing, it’s another.

Sammy has been put on a special diet to keep the acidity levels in his urine low, which includes ammonium chloride and cranberry supplement. I have feeding both of these to him in the morning mixed with wet “Science Diet c/d” and he has taken it like a champ for a week now.

Until Sunday.

Sunday, he ended up throwing up breakfast, along with his medicine. So, I cleaned it up, gave him some fresh water, re-fed him, and went about my day. Didn’t think much about it.

Today, Sammy puked again right after eating breakfast. I’m looking at the vomit and I noticed a big, plump, hook worm! MOVING AROUND!

Now, this surprised me. Because the first thing I did when I took Samuel in was take him to the vet and make sure he did not have feline leukemia, and to get panacur to deworm him.

He was ate up with worms, hooks and rounds.

And, apparently still is.

So, needless to say, we are looking at another interesting 2 weeks after he finishes his penicillin. But, this time, I’m not going to the vet for something I can do myself.

This cat never gets a break!

Sammy Log #2 - Does your pet have a pet?

Sammy with PotatoI don’t know what it is… Shoes, plants, and bags of potatoes! The smell of dirt maybe?

This week, aside from our little bird, Samuel’s biggest obsession has been a sack of potatoes sitting on the floor in the kitchen. Attacking them vigorously, or caressing and licking them. Odd occurance, all the same.

We donated one! So, now, Sammy has his own little pet, too. :)
